Founded by Orville  and Wilbur Wright in Kitty Hawk, NC., December 18, 1903 (The day after their historic first flight), 

 

Key Dates:

December 18, 1903 Blue Star Airlines founded by the Wright Brothers. The first airline ever.

December 19, 1903 Blue Star Airlines offers shares to public. The first airline to go public.

December 20, 1903 Blue Star Airlines declares bankruptcy. The first airline ever to go bankrupt.

December 11, 1987 Blue Star Airlines fends off hostile takeover from Gordon Gekko. Gekko is sentenced to prison for insider trading (thanks to Bud Fox). After prison, is hired by old friend Warren Buffet and made spokesman for Geico Insurance, a Berkshire Hathaway company. Mr. Buffet refuses to speak about his dealings with Mr. Gekko.

April 30, 1991 Blue Star Airlines announces internet reservation service.

May 1, 1991 Internet reservation shelved. The 84 people with internet are uninterested.

April 23, 2005 Blue Star Airlines thinks about ordering Boeing's new 787. Decides planes would only get in the way of running an airline.

January 7, 2008 Acquires all planes and gates from Piedmont, Branniff and Eastern Airlines

January 8, 2008 Acquires 49% Equity stake in Brooklyn Bridge.

March 12, 2008 Bud Fox, A.K.A. Client 11 resigns effective immediately.

April 21, 2008 After Board meeting, CEO title, but not the job will be offered to Jeff Macke after seeing him on TV and mentioning something about an airline.
